George Wyllie Paper Boat Pin Badge
Handmade pin badge cast in jesmonite by Mould Fashioned. Original design by the late Scottish artist George Wyllie and officially licensed by the George Wyllie Estate. 10% of each sale goes to the George Wyllie Estate.
Mould Fashioned is a small-scale mould-making and casting service run by David McDiarmid Studio in Glasgow’s East End, supplying ready-made and bespoke moulds for casting projects.
The Estate for the late Scottish artist George Wyllie MBE (1921-2012) approached me to reproduce a paper boat pin badge George once made and sold at craft markets. I made a bespoke mould and produced replica paper boats using jesmonite, transforming them into pin badges complete with a bespoke packaging solution to be stocked and sold in the gift shop of The Wyllieum – a newly opened archive and museum of George Wyllie’s work. The Wyllieum is located within the new multi-million pound Ocean Terminal designed by Richard Murphy Architects for Greenock’s Cultural Quarter.
